WRITE-IN VOTES NEEDED TO FILL THE NOMINATION FOR THE ONE YEAR UNEXPIRED TERM FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER. PLEASE WRITE-IN GERALD T. SHINE ON ELECTION DAY, OR ON YOUR VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT
Five days before the candidate filing deadline, County Commissioner (formerly Freeholder) Kevin Armwood, died unexpectedly. There was not sufficient time for the Republicans to select a candidate and then get his or her nominating petition completed, signed, and filed. We, therefore, are asking you to write-in “Gerald T. Shine” on election day on your voting machine, or on your vote by mail ballot if you have received one and have not already voted it.
Make sure you write him in for the 1-year unexpired County Commissioner position and not in one of the two full-term County Commissioner positions for which we already have candidates on the ballot. If you are voting in the Republican primary anywhere in Middlesex County, you can write him in. He needs at least 100 good write-in votes to be nominated, so your write-in vote would be appreciated, as would be the votes of anyone else you can get to write him in.
If you are voting a paper ballot, (vote by mail or provisional ballot), it is not enough just to write in Gerald T. Shine’s name, it is also necessary to fill in the oval to signify that you are actually voting for him.
If you are voting in person on election day on our new voting machines, locate the County Commissioner one year unexpired term spot on the ballot, then press the box that says “WRITE-IN.” A keyboard will then pop up on the screen and then you should type in “Gerald T. Shine” and hit the Accept button when you are finished typing. The WRITE-IN box will then turn green and display the name you wrote in. Tap the box again if you need to edit.
